<p>Dear gentlemen,</p>
<p>We would like to thank you for your participation in the Final Event of the ERMIS Project, which is co-financed by the Interreg V-A Greece Italy 2014-2020 Programme.</p>
<p>The Final Event of the Project, organized by the Civil Protection Department of the Region of Epirus, was held successfully on the 27th of October 2021, in Ioannina, at the premises of the Region of Epirus Event Hall, at the center of Ioannina City, 28-30 N. Zerva, str., (Stoa Sarka), was the final activity held throughout the Project activities on behalf of the Partnership and is considered as a milestone for the successful implementation of the ERMIS Project.</p>
<p>Your presence at the Event and your interest in the results and outputs of a Project that was successfully implemented, gives us the needed impetus for a new equally worthwhile effort during the following Programming Period of 2021 -2027.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Final Event of the Project, organized by the Civil Protection Department of the Region of Epirus, was held successfully on the 27<sup>th</sup> of October 2021, in Ioannina, at the premises of the Region of Epirus Event Hall, at the center of Ioannina City, 28-30 N. Zerva, str., (Stoa Sarka), Building A, Regional Development Fund of Epirus, 2<sup>nd</sup> Floor.</p>
<p>During the implementation of the Final Event all the necessary measures were enacted to contain COVID-19. The Event was also held virtually through Zoom Platform for those that could not attend physically and was also live broadcasted on the YouTube channel of the ERMIS Project.</p>
<p>The Final Event aimed at summarizing the activities that have been held throughout the Project, allowing each Partner to present the implementation of the deliverables during the period of the ERMIS Project. The Partners, namely, Region of Epirus and University of Ioannina from the Greek side &amp; Apulia Region – Civil Protection Section and University of Bari from the Italian side presented the milestones, outputs and the results of a successfully implemented Project.</p>
<p>During the Final Event, through the presentations of the Partnership, the attendees were informed on subjects such as the Interreg VA Greece-Italy 2014-2020 Programme, the ERMIS Project activities that each Partner has completed, and the Training Event, which was held in Preveza, Greece on the 16<sup>th</sup> &amp; 17<sup>th</sup> of October 2021, through a video presentation accompanied with the narration from the Region of Epirus Experts.</p>
<p>The Event was completed at noon, in the presence of more than 50 participants, where coffee, soft drinks and all sorts of finger-food was served.</p>
<p>The Final Event was the last activity held throughout the Project activities on behalf of the Partnership and is considered as a milestone for the successful implementation of the ERMIS Project.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Training Event organized by the Civil Protection Department of the Epirus Region, with the assistance of the 5<sup>th</sup> Special Disaster Management Unit, the Hellenic Fire Service and the participation of the Volunteer Group “Club of Hellenic Special Forces of Preveza”, was held successfully on the 16<sup>th</sup> &amp; 17<sup>th</sup> of October 2021, in Preveza, inside the former military camp of “Agios Andreas”.</p>
<p>The Training Event aimed at releasing and saving individuals after a strong earthquake. The Event was carried out under the activities of the “ERMIS” Project, co-funded by the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy 2014-2020 Programme. For the needs of Training Event, inside the area of the former military camp, a specially designed building collapse simulation field was constructed, under the supervision of the Commander of the 5<sup>th</sup> Special Disaster Management Unit Mr. Golias and its specialized executives.</p>
<p>During the Training Event, through the execution of a number of complex release scenarios and the application of relevant operational protocols &amp; software tools of INSARAG (International Search and Rescue Advisory Group), on which the action was based, the participants got acquainted with the use of specialized equipment, supplied by the Region of Epirus as part of the Project.</p>
<p>The Training Event was completed on Sunday, the 17<sup>th</sup> of October, at noon, in the presence of the Regional Governor, the Member of Parliament for the Regional Unit of Preveza Mr. Giannakis, the Vice-Regional Governors, the Business Coordinator for Epirus &#8211; Western Macedonia and Islands Mr. Kontogiannis, the Commanders of the Services of the Security Forces of the Region of Epirus, and representatives of the Army and the Local Authorities</p>
<p>Watching the final phase of the Training Event, the attendees once again witnessed the mindset and the high level of operational ability of the 5<sup>th</sup> Special Disaster Management Unit, as well as the substantial assistance that can be provided, if required, by an organized disciplined and well-trained volunteer a group like the “Club of Hellenic Special Forces of Preveza”.</p>
<p>With the exemplary organization and execution of the educational scenarios, the participants particularly demonstrated the culture of cooperation, that characterizes the state and the self-governing mechanism of the Civil Protection Department of the Region of Epirus, which is a prerequisite for effective responding to large-scale events.</p>

<p>We are pleased to inform you that the Civil Protection Department of the Region of Epirus supported by the 5<sup>th</sup> Special Disaster Management Unit and the Hellenic Fire Service, organizes a two-day thematic training exercise/demonstration event on victims’ management after a critical earthquake.</p>
<p>The event will take place under the implementation of the “ERMIS” project, funded by the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy 2014-2020 Programme, on the 16<sup>th </sup>&amp; 17<sup>th</sup> of October 2021 at a special designed field (on-site) in the facilities of the former military campus of “Agios Andreas” in Preveza, Greece.</p>
<p>The training activities will be attended jointly by the members of the Volunteer Group “<strong>Club of Hellenic Special Forces of Preveza</strong>” and the staff members of <strong>Hellenic public administration services that compose the Region’s Civil Protection mechanism</strong>.</p>
<p>The aim of the event is a) to support the participants getting familiar with the operational protocols and the use of software tools of the INSARAG (International Search and Rescue Advisory Group), b) to support the use of the specialized equipment acquired under the “ERMIS” project and c) to promote the operational organized volunteering in large-scale incidents response.</p>
<p>It would be our honor to be present at the event on the 17<sup>th</sup> of October 2021, at 11:30 a.m. during the main activities of the event, having the great opportunity to attend the training scenarios execution.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Friday 8/11/2019, ERMIS consortium successfully organized the 3<sup>rd</sup> Project &amp; Steering Committee meeting as well as the 1<sup>st</sup> Workshop. The events took place at the premises of the University of Ioannina, Department of Physics and all the partners participated via their representatives.</p>
<p>During the Project &amp; Steering Committee meeting and after welcoming all partners the current project implementation status was presented by the Lead Partner, Region of Epirus. Following, each partner (Region of Epirus – University of Ioannina – Region of Puglia – University of Bari) made a short presentation of their progress on the activities their responsible of implementing, pointing out the weaknesses and strengths of current situation.</p>
<p>Having identified the above mentioned issues, all partners participated in the planning of the next implementation period, focusing on the project’s Gantt chart and the upcoming deliverables that have to be completed. The session ended with planning the next project meetings and a round table discussion. All partners agreed that it was a fruitful event and stated their commitment on achieving the best possible outcomes.</p>
<p>After a short coffee break, the Scientific Workshop started. The Universities of Ioannina and Bari were responsible of organizing and monitoring the workshop.</p>
<p>The first presentation was made by the University of Bari, focused on “Large scale modelling of landside hazard in a seismic area – The experience of Monti Dauri” and was presented by Antonio Ganga, Ersilia D’ Ambrosio and Simona Tripaldi.</p>
<p>Following, the University of Ioannina made four presentations highlighting key aspects of the Greek side and more specifically the Region of Epirus. The first one focused on “Geological structure and seismotectonics of Ioannina broader area” and was presented by Alexandros Hatzipetros. The next one by George Papathanasiou, presented the “ Evaluation of the slope stability an surface erosion, delineation of prone to liquedaction areas in Epirus”. Following, Sotirios Valcaniotis presented the “Collection of information regarding the spatial distribution of the forest typologies in the GR Region”. The closing presentation by Costas Stamoulis, dealt with the “Random emanation measurements in selected sites along faults in the Epirus Region”.</p>
<p>That was a great opportunity of transferring knowledge and presenting structured methodologies that will be great tools for the successful project implementation. Through an extensive discussion the participants reached to significant conclusions and agreed that the workshop was useful and upgraded the consortium’s capacity.</p>

<p><em> </em><em>The Kick-off meeting of the project ERMIS &#8211; “Earthquake disasters management integrated system”, co-funded for 900.000,00 euro by the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme 2014-2020, will be held on 9th July 2018 at the Headquarters of the Region of Epirus in Ioannina, Greece. </em></p>
<p><em> </em><strong>The</strong><strong> Region of Epirus </strong>is the lead beneficiary of this project in cooperation with one Greek partner, the <strong>University of Ioannina</strong><strong>,</strong><strong> two </strong>Italian partners, the<strong> Apulia Region – Civil Protection Section </strong>and the <strong>University of Bari. </strong>Associated Partner is the <strong>Hellenic Ministry of National Defence</strong>.</p>
<p>ERMIS project, financed under Priority Axis 2 – Integrated Environmental Management, focuses on enhancing and strengthening the planning of Civil Protection of the Region of Epirus and Puglia in handling emergencies of earthquakes disasters through the development of an integrated management system.</p>
<p>Thanks to Ermis project, Puglia and Region of Epirus territories will be more safe, because it will implement Assets Management Platform, Information Central Database and public alert mechanism to efficient confront earthquake incidents.</p>
<p>In addition, a joint training programme for voluntary Emergency Response Teams in both regions will be established to assist National Emergency Response Units in responding immediately after large disasters.</p>
<p>Finally, an useful Post-Earthquake Building Inspections Manual will be developed, regarding the evaluation of damages and an Information Guideline for child protection in buildings will be spread during several training events in schools in order to increase the public awareness for the best practises under natural disaster.</p>
